                            Wastewater Treatment Operator

   The Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District is a public sector utility that operates two plants with a design capacity of 25 m.g.d. to serve Urbana, Champaign, Savoy, and the University of Illinois.  Some of the treatment processes include conventional activated sludge, biological phosphorous removal, nitrification, disk filters, sodium hypochlorite disinfection, anaerobic digestion, and centrifuges for dewatering. 

   The Wastewater Treatment Operator performs operational duties relating to the control and processing of wastewater and bio-solids.  Prior experience or education related to wastewater treatment is preferred, but not required. 

   The successful candidate will participate in a training program for up to twelve months on a variety of shifts to
learn processes under different operating conditions.  Starting salary for the position is $21.47 / hour.
